Day Log 5-27-09

  • Had coffee this morning with Dan Rogers, who always provides me with interesting conversation and good, challenging ideas. Dan taught me in HIS579 and also did a general examination field with me and although the main focus of most of his work has been on periods later than mine, he has plenty to say about the revolutionary and early national eras as well. Gave me a list of books to check out — mostly urban histories, comparative — Philadelphia, Charleston, Chicago, Savannah.
  • Continuing this rather social day I had lunch and coffee with Paul Miles. Talked about colonial Georgia, Woodrow Wilson, the service academies and the ROTC.
  • A doctor appointment in the middle of the afternoon will probably prevent me from getting into the archive for another day. Instead I will try to finish Mark Fernandez’s legal history From Chaos to Continuity.
